FORM AND FLOW: SEQUENCING AND ALIGNMENT

A 50 HOUR TEACHER TRAINING WITH NEDA

A PART OF THE 300 HOURS EXTENDED TEACHER TRAINING AT YOGA SHALA


The "Flow & Form" module focuses on sequencing strategies for flow classes and how to incorporate the fundamentals of alignment & action cuing into your teaching. The aim of this module is to offer new and experienced teachers alike the opportunity to more skilfully and effectively guide students through flow classes.


Throughout the course, we'll incorporate both theory and practice to offer you a more embodied experience of the material for both your own personal practice and your teaching. We'll break down the foundations of flow!


We will be exploring not only how to more strategically build a flow sequence up to one or more peak poses, but also how to pick essential alignment and action cues to support your students journey through class. This module will include cuing of standing poses, arm balances, backbends, forward folds, twists, and hip & quad opener.


Each session will include yoga philosophy, pranayama, meditation, and journaling to support not only the material offered but also your own personal growth and development. 




The training will take place over two weekends in June


In addition to the two weekends the students will complete a homework assignment, followed by a one on one online session with Neda.

In this teacher training you will learn: 


  • Foundational and essential asana alignment & action principles for your teaching and own personal practice


  • How to offer Shape, Safety (strength), and Refinement (stretch & softening) cues for standing poses, arm balances, backbends, forward folds, twists, and hip & quad openers


  • How to teach Surya Namaskar A&B, classically and with variations to allow for creativity and accessibility


  • How to skilfully and strategically sequence flow classes


  • How to break a peak pose down into its component parts and use that knowledge to more optimally select preparatory poses for your sequence


  • How to offer variations of the poses selected for your sequence to offer more accessibility for a wide range of students in your classes


  • Yoga philosophy, pranayama, and meditation techniques that will bolster you from within and help support the material you are learning and practicing



This 50hr Sequencing and Alignment teacher training is part of the 300hr extended teacher training offered at Yoga Shala. It is possible to take the module on it own or as part of the 300hr program. It is a requirement to have completed a 200hr basic teacher training to enroll.

This is a module of the extended teacher training at Yoga Shala. The extended training will be over 300hr and you can choose to do all modules or select the ones you like the most.

About Neda Draupadi Honarvar, E-RYT 500, YACEP


Known for her fiery nature and deep desire to make yoga accessible, Neda's teaching style reflects her passion and playfulness as well as her dedication to the science, depth, and discipline of yoga. Her classes are an engaging blend of clear, direct, alignment-based instruction and skilful sequencing; expect lots of encouragement and play with generous servings of sweat and laughter.


Neda is the founder of Tough Love Yoga and maintains an active teaching schedule, offering asana, pranayama, & meditation classes, ritual gatherings, workshops, retreats, and teacher training programs both locally and internationally. Neda has trained over 300 yoga instructors through 200 hour and 300 hour alignment-based Hatha yoga programs registered with the Yoga Alliance, both through Tough Love Yoga and other yoga studios across the globe.

Neda's love for teaching is second only to her passion for learning, believing that being a student of yoga has and continues to transform the capacity and potential of her mind, body, and heart. Neda's primary practices include asana, pranayama, meditation, and ritual. She has been practicing yoga since 2000 and is a devoted student of her beloved guru Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati and her teachers Darren Rhodes and Christina Sell.
