Bhagavad Gita:
A yogic guide to navigating life
with Svetlana Álfheiður
A Philosophy and meditation workshop
In this workshop we explore Bhagavad Gita, one of the most profound and influential texts in yogic tradition. We will familiarise ourselves with the text and the teachings it offers and make an attempt to witness them through our direct experience in meditation.
Bhagavad Gita is often called "a guidebook to life". Besides being an excellent source of knowledge for those who wish to understand the yogic path, it also serves as a powerful moral compass and a surprisingly practical guide to navigating everyday life and its challenges. It dives into some fundamental questions every human has to face: What is my purpose? How can I be happy? How do I deal with emotional pain, suffering and death? - and suggests a clear course of actions aligned with yogic philosophy. Deeply rooted in various classical traditions, it also offers a very unique perspective on some important concepts, leading us to gaining a deeper understanding of the essence of the Universe and our own Self.
The workshop will be held on March 3rd at 5 pm and includes readings of chosen paragraphs, contemplation, discussions and guided meditation practices to deepen our understanding and facilitate the embodiment of the teachings. The workshop is taught in English and spans 120 minutes with 2 intervals. Questions welcome at namskeid@yogashala.is
