DIVING INTO THE ASHTANGA SEQUENCE!


In Ashtanga Yoga Foundations with Laura you will learn the basics of the Ashtanga yoga method so that you can confidently practice in a group or on your own. You will become familiar with the sequence and its elements; and get personal attention and your questions answered in a small group setting.


The course is three weeks long, running from November 6th to 22nd, on Mondays and Wendesdays and is suitable for absolute beginners as well as yoga practitioners who are interested to in learning the Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga method as was taught by K. Pattabhi Jois.


The course is designed to provide the participants with the foundations in Ashtanga yoga method, including yoga asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), the combination of the two (vinyasa), correct alignment, variations for every body and physical condition, and some yoga philosophy explaining the practice, meaning of mantras, and some of the Sanskrit terms.

PREPARATIONS:

Come in clean and comfortable clothes that do not restrict movement, drink plenty of water before the class, try not to eat too much an hour or two before the practice, bring an open mind and a notebook if you like to take notes. Some material will be also shared via email every week, so you will be able to dive deeper if you choose.



ABOUT THE TEACHER:
Laura Malinauskaite has been a dedicated Ashtanga practitioner since 2013 when she went to her first Ashtanga beginners’ course at Yoga Shala, finding the balance between discipline and repetition very meditative and healing. She has been practicing ever since and teaching since 2018. She has an advance 500YTT yoga teacher training certification from two recognised yoga schools in India, and has studied with various teachers in Ashtanga tradition, including Laruga Glaser, Maria Boox, Harmony Slater, David Garrigues, and others. Having tried a few styles of yoga, Laura keeps coming back to Ashtanga as her ‘home base’ and is excited to share her decade long experience with you. She is sure that absolutely everyone who wants can do yoga – you just need to find the right practice for you. Come and find if this practice is for you and learn some yoga basics on the way!
